Project Details

Mr. Hofman wanted nose-art for one of his WWII war planes. After I drew it out for him, he wanted a copy printed on canvas and then gallery wrapped to hang in his personal hangar.

Process

Created entirely in vector, I started out with a simple sketch of the wascawy wabbit. I posed him as if he was hanging on to the side of the plane then added the clothes and extra details. I then created a background that would fit a 2″ deep gallery wrap. Once complete, the outer edges looked like metal panels fitted to the frame.

Reflection

I had the most fun creating the cigar and figuring out how to make it look like it was glowing with embers trailing off of it. I had never gallery wrapped a canvas, before, so when he asked me to do that for this piece I had to do a bit of research and then buy all the tools. This one actually turned out so well, that gallery wrapping just became the thing to do!
