Peak Completion Technologies - Set-A-Seat
Client
Peak Completion Technologies
Date
2016
Project Details
Peak wanted to showcase their Set-A-Seat tool by illustrating how it functions, how many fracing stages it is capable of, and then show how its frac ball is dissolvable.
My role
Concept, storyboarding, animator, editor
Tools
Autodesk 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects
Process
I would meet with the Peak sales and engineering teams and develop a storyline and storyboards for the animation. Once that step is done, I would pull all the tools into a scene and make sure the company textures and lighting (decided on before my arrival with the company) were set properly, then render a single frame to make sure everything looks good. Based on our storyboards I would animate and set key frames to render low-res, non-textured scenes and present these to engineering and sales to make sure everything is animated correctly. Then I would render each scene in high-res, and compile everything in After Effects.
Reflection
The education I received from amazing people at Peak and from working with these animations is absolutely priceless to me. I cannot possibly put everything in a paragraph this small. I will, however, say I learned liquid simulations are amazing and becoming more and more realistic all the time. If you’re on a deadline, though, and you need to save some computation time… learn to ‘simulate’ liquid in post rather than your 3D environment! 😛 HUGE time saver!!
