Peak Completion Technologies - Kronos

Project Details

Peak wanted to showcase their Kronos tool by illustrating how it functions, how many fracing stages it is capable of, and (ever the innovator) then show how it and its frac ball is dissolvable.

My role

Concept, storyboarding, animator, editor

Tools

Autodesk 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects

Process

I would meet with the Peak sales and engineering teams and develop a storyline and storyboards for the animation. Once that step is done, I would pull all the tools into a scene and make sure the company textures and lighting (decided on before my arrival with the company) were set properly, then render a single frame to make sure everything looks good. Based on our storyboards I would animate and set key frames to render low-res, non-textured scenes and present these to  engineering and sales to make sure everything is animated correctly. Then I would render each scene in high-res,  and compile everything in After Effects.

Reflection

By the time I got to this animation, through the changes I made to our processes and procedures, I had cut production length by 66%!! I could animate a full scene in 1/3 of the time we used to and without losing any quality! I am incredibly disappointed they only uploaded the low-res versions of these animations. The originals were full 1080p.
